Defining Me

There is not a single definition that says “this is me”

I’m scarred and broken I’m an unwritten mystery

But if you stick around long enough

You’ll find my edges really aren’t that rough.

But if I had to let you know anything at all

I would say that I’m all things great and small

I am the cool spring evenings and the sunset that colors the sky

The first hello and the hardest goodbye

I am the blanket holding you on a cold winter night

The arms that are wrapped around you so tight.

I am the bonfire with friends circled around

With laughter filling the air and love that abounds

I am the morning dew and the full moon

The gentle breeze and a storm of impending doom

I am the mighty oak tall and strong

And all of the lyrics in your favorite song

I am the moments that bring you great joy

Your comfort zone, your favorite toy

I am the mountains standing tall

The safety net to catch you should you fall

I am the challenges and the easy way out

I am your hopes and sometimes your doubts

There’s nothing about me that fits neatly anywhere

I’m all things you wish for and all that you dare.
