Hey, you,
Sitting there in the back of the classroom with your head down
Wishing someone, anyone, would notice you longing to fit in.
I’ve got a message for you.
I know you won’t believe it,
And you’ll just have to live it,
But, just a heads up…
Everything’s going to be okay.
I promise.
Those jerks never do give you the time of day,
But their impact on your life is minimal.
I know.
I know it doesn’t seem like that know,
But they really are unimportant to who you become.
Everything seems really scary right now.
There’s a great big world out there waiting for you.
And one day you will own it.
Or at least own your place in it.
I’m not saying it’s going to be easy.
Or that you won’t have to work hard.
In fact,
You are going to work your ass off
For very little recognition.
But you will find a group of people
That actually care about you.
And you will find a place that you can call home.
So don’t pay attention to those that want to hurt you
Or that make fun of you.
You keep believing in you,
Because there’s going to be a few times
When you are the only one that does,
But eventually, others will see it
And they will see you.
